DonneConceptGallery and Marsèll are proud to present Shapeshifter, the personal exhibition of Marco Pietracupa at the Mannerheim Gallery.
Conceived from the artist’s monographic book, the exhibition offers a journey through archive materials, presented to the public by way of unexpected combinations and a new reading key, with the collaboration of Virginia Devoto and sponsored by Marsèll.
There’re three recurring themes in this series of photographs. The woods as habitat and human woods made up of faces and bodies, humans and animals constellations bare without delay, a skin that’s manifested in its multiple facets; Beside these, the third theme is portrayed by technical material, cold, almost disturbing counterpoint. A circle of images that begins and ends with an organic representation of nature, even when it is an artificial nature. The book, produced by Marsèll, is edited by Yard Press, designed by Dallas Studio and accompanied by texts by Sara Dolfi Agostini, Francesco Tenaglia and Virginia Devoto.
Marco Pietracupa was born in Brixen in 1967. Enfant terrible of woods and roads in South Tyrol, he gradually sharpens his art with constancy and consistency, between Milan and Paris. We are in the nineties when we see it already on headlines such as D Republic, Glamor, Caffellatte, followed by, among others, L’Officiel, The Vogue Man, Rolling Stone, Vice, Hercules, Hunter, Wallpaper and GQ.
His works were presented by Marsèlleria in Milan, Vice Gallery, Triennale, Le Dictateur, Bussiness Gallery in New York, Brownstone Foundation in Paris, Stadgalerie in Brixen, Asni Gallery in Addis Ababa, Museo del Cassero in Monte San Savino, Festung Franzesfest in Brixen, Prisma Gallery in Bolzano, and with DonneConceptGallery in Porto Cervo.
